Early life
editOlga Schoberová was born 15 March 1943 in Prague. Both of her parents were clerks. She graduated from the High School of Economics.[1]
Career
editAfter graduation Schoberová worked as a clerk at the Technomat, for CZK 500 per month.[1] Her older sister Eva was a model. Since Eva was quite busy as a model, Eva once sent Olga, who looked very similar to her, to a modeling job. Olga then started shooting commercials. A Pilsner beer poster with 20 year old Olga attracted the attention of director Antonín Kachlík, who cast her in the movie We Were Ten (1963).[1] Soon after she was cast in many popular Czech movies, including Lemonade Joe or Who Wants to Kill Jessie?.
In 1964, Schoberová appeared on the cover of Playboy magazine, photographed by Herman Leonard.[5][6][7][8] In 1969, Schoberová appeared in Playboy again, this time in the pictorial, Sex Stars of 1969.[9][10] Schoberová appeared with her future husband Brad Harris in The Secret of the Chinese Carnation, (1964), and Massacre at Marble City (1964).[11] After she married John Calley in 1972 she essentially retired from acting. She only returned in 1977 in Dinner for Adele and 1984 in Vrak.
Personal life
editIn the early 1960s, Olga dated artist Kája Saudek.[11] Saudek advised her to bleach her hair blonde and based his comics character Jessie on her.[1] In 1967, Schoberová married actor Brad Harris, whom she met during filming.[12] Their daughter, Sabrina, is a stylist and costume designer.[11] Olga became romantically involved with Juraj Jakubisko while she was still married.[13][14] She and Harris divorced in 1969. Olga met producer John Calley at Barbra Streisand's party.[15] They got married on December 30, 1972,[4] and divorced almost exactly 20 years later, in December 1992. She then lived in France and later returned to Prague.[citation needed]
Her elder sister, Eva,[16] was born on July 8, 1940. They grew up in Vinohrady, Prague. She worked as a hairdresser, a model and an actress, until 1970, when she left the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, married a doctor, and lives in Switzerland.[citation needed]

Prague, Czechoslovakia. Footage shot in the 'Prague Spring of freedom', shortly before the Russian invasion is seen with a sombre but 'safe' commentary....At an open-air cafe we see Olinka Berova ("a bright young film star" according to commentator) sipping wine; this beautiful blonde beckons us to go with her and wanders around some lovely gardens in the city, rows across a lake before the Wallenstein Palace, walks around the city, over the Charles Bridge and beside the river. We see an old, ornate clock with moving figures on the side of a building; Olinka walks through the cloisters of a former monastery, now a museum, and across the courtyard, then wanders around looking at Prague Castle and the cathedral. She goes inside the cathedral and we see several stained-glass windows, then comes out through the castle gates and walks off down a long flight of steps leading back to the main city, turns and waves at us and skips off.
