N.S.N Matriculation Higher Secondary School is a co-educational school, which is managed by the NSN Education Committee, was established as a primary school in 1968 by Lalitha Menon in memory of her husband, Late NSN Menon. Over the years, it has become a premier and one of the leading educational institutions in the Chromepet region, providing education to numerous students in and around the area. The school is known for its focus on holistic education and its commitment to providing a well-rounded education. The school celebrated its silver jubilee in the year 1993. The then Finance Minister Sri V.R. Nedunchezhiyan inaugurated the function. The valedictory function was presided over by the then Governor of Tamilnadu, Dr.M.Channa Reddy, in January 1994.

SMART CLASSROOMS: Every classroom is equipped with a laptop, an UPS and a projector and a set of speakers. The teachers use the smart boards to teach and give notes etc.
COMPUTER LAB: The school has a computer lab, which imparts Computer Education from grade I and multimedia education is provided for KG – grade XII.
MATH LAB: The school has a math lab, where the emphasis is on learning by doing. An integral part of the math lab is the manipulation of objects. Through manipulating concrete materials, the student is able to bridge the gap between the real and abstract world.
LIBRARY: The school has a well-equipped library covering all subjects that are relevant to the curriculum. Every class has one library period a week.
SCIENCE LABS: The school has 3 science labs for Physics, Chemistry and Biology, which are equipped with various instruments. The students use these to learn and understand concepts.
AUDIO-VISUAL (AV) ROOMS: The school has an AV-Room and a Mini AV-Room for mass gatherings of people to attend guest lectures, announcements, sessions and various other things.
Other facilities include a wellness room, playground, KG play room, a remedial room and a student counsellor room.

NSN school has a Bharat Scouts and Guides group. It also has a Junior Red Cross group. It won the International School Award in 2015 announced by the British Council.[citation needed] Various Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) like Karate, Silambam, Arts class, Music, Dance, and Drama are present.
