Review

Holy moly, this map. It's, uh, busy, to put it mildly. I'm not sure where to begin. This map seems to fall into the same trappings that got the previous one deleted.

Are there any credible sources saying that much of Sagaing or Tanintharyi regions are contested? Hell, are there any credible sources saying that major cities like Lashio, Sagaing, or Myitkyina are contested? Last I checked, the military firmly controls all major cities except perhaps Loikaw. At best, these rebel groups control the rural areas and a handful of small towns on the frontiers. That ought to be shown with the rural presence icon available in the legend.

Occasional sabotage operations or raids by PDFs do not automatically mean settlements are contested. Sources should have a reputation of accurate reporting to document this.

This brings me to another issue. With so many rebel groups active, I'd argue they should be placed under a broad umbrella of those opposed to the military (red vs green). This current setup is an eyesore.

Confusion between Arakan Army and Arakan Liberation Army

The map shows cities in Rakhine State, some of which are dark green. The map legend says that dark green marks the Arakan Liberation Party, but this organization has almost no territory under its control. Armed wing of Arakan Liberation Party is the Arakan Liberation Army which is just 300-500 soldiers in size. They have no capacity to control such territory as is displayed on the map. This territory is actually controlled by the United League of Arakan and its armed wing: Arakan Army, which has 30,000+ soldiers (self-claimed in December 2021). Arakan Army is member of Three Brotherhood Alliance which leads Operation 1027 and Arakan Liberation Army is acutally opponent of Arakan Army. Sultán Sahak (talk) 09:32, 7 January 2024 (UTC)

Sources on a forum outside WP (no not that forum lol they don’t care about real work) have been complaining that this map is constantly out of date.

Hi, I'm brand new to the Wikipedia scene but I've been keeping up with this map/article for months now and I do agree it could use some more up-to-date information. Some fairly generic sources I've been using to keep up with the conflict are Mizzima and MyanmarNow. I don't know their specific funding sources so I can't speak to their biases (although their opinion pieces and most of their reporting leans anti-Junta). I have no experience editing Wikipedia pages but I think this conflict is being majorly underreported in the West which is a disservice to millions of people who are in harms way and millions of people who are fighting quite literally a variety of conflicts. Corrections' suggestions

I suggest to correct some mistakes in this map but I do not know how to modify them by myself

-Gwa (Rakhine State) is located in the very southernmost tip of the state, who placed it has probably confused it with Gaw village, which is located near Thandwe. -Thandwe (Rakhine) should be contested between AA and the Junta because the Arakha Army has entered the city -Kyaukphyu (Rakhine) should change from "contested" to "Inner controls, outer sieges" since the Junta has a stable control of the but the city is completely surrounded by AA forces. -Mogok (Mandalay) should be contested since TNLA troops have entered the city -Hpakant (Kachin) should be "Inner controls, outer sieges" becouse Junta has stable control while KIA has completely surrounded the city but has not entered it yet Wikidoge04 (talk) 15:57, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
