Change to "random article?" edit

Would it be a bad idea to change the text "Random page" to "Random article", for the sake of accuracy? Technically, any article, or project page, etc., counts as a "page", but "Random page" only returns articles. --Ixfd64 18:41, 2005 Jun 26 (UTC)

Sounds like a good idea. Wikibooks already has "Random module" so I don't see why we couldn't have a custom term too. Master Thief GarrettTalk 00:44, 27 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Seconded. Figure out which MediaWiki page it is, add a note on that talk page, then mention it on IRC or the Admin's noticeboard asking an admin to make the change. Go to it! JesseW 2 July 2005 06:51 (UTC)

No objection? I changed it. This link is Broken 9 July 2005 16:33 (UTC)

Algorithm? edit

What algorithm selects the random article? Is it truly random? Brownturkey (talk) 13:22, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

It should select a random page from a select list, I would guess it would be rather difficult for the system to pick an article out of the millions that are on Wikipedia, but this is only my guess. -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs 12:13, 25 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
