Lewis Deeney (born 1994) is a Scottish artist known for his unique artistic style, which consists of interconnected geometric patterns combining sharp edges with smooth artistic patterns. His art showcases paintings with vivid textures, sparkling colours and various shapes.[1]

Education

Born and raised in Dumbarton, Scotland, Lewis attended Dumbarton Academy before pursuing a degree in Contemporary Art in Dundee. Graduating with First-Class Honors in 2020, he received notable recognition during the degree show, winning prestigious awards such as the James Guthrie Orchar Memorial Prize and the Farquhar Reid Trust Prize.[2] Continuing his artistic journey, Lewis pursued further studies at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design (DJCAD), completing a Master of Fine Arts in Art and Humanities in 2021.[3][4][5]

Career

Lewis's artistic achievements have been showcased in various art exhibitions,[6] including two successful solo shows in Scotland. His work has been sought after, finding a place in private collections and public institutions across the UK and Europe.[1][7]

Awards

Lewis has received numerous awards and nominations. He was selected as a recipient of the Freelands Painting Prize. Lewis also received the William S Phillips Award, which provided support for his studies at DJCAD. Furthermore, his artistic contributions were recognized through prestigious award shortlistings, including the Visual Art Open Emerging Artist Award, Artist Lounge Artist of the Year, and the D31 Art Gallery Prize.[4]
