The Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation is an award presented by his Highness, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan with the aim of promoting and encouraging agricultural innovation and studies of date palm research and its spread in the world.[1][2][3][4][5]

Objectives

Highlighting the responsible leading role of the UAE in advancing creativity and innovation in the field of date palm and the agricultural sector, and paying attention to environmental protection issues. Fighting poverty and increasing the green area to achieve sustainable development. Supporting scientific research, encouraging and appreciating workers in the development of the agricultural sector and the date palm sector in the UAE and the world, and benefiting from various experiences to improve the agricultural reality and date palm in accordance with the best international practices.

The Award Categories

The award is divided into five categories in the field of agricultural innovation and date palm.

Category 1

edit

The category of distinguished studies and modern technology, and the winner receives an amount of one million UAE dirhams (about 300,000 US dollars).

Category 2

edit

The category of pioneering development and production projects, and the winner receives an amount of one million UAE dirhams (about 300,000 US dollars).

Category 3

edit

Distinguished Producers, Manufacturers and Marketers, and the winner receives an amount of 750,000,000.00 UAE dirhams (about 200,000 US dollars).

Category 4

edit

The category of pioneering and advanced innovations to serve the agricultural sector, and the winner receives an amount of 750,000,000.00 UAE dirhams (about 200,000 US dollars).

Category 5

The Fifth Category: The Distinguished Personality Category in the field of palms, dates and agricultural innovation, and the winner receives an amount of 750.000.00 UAE dirhams (about 200,000 US dollars)[6][7][8]

The award administration also awards a commemorative shield and a certificate of appreciation to all categories.

Schedule

Period for submitting candidacy applications: June 1 - December 31 of each year.

Announcing the names of the winners: During the second week of February of each year.

Honoring Ceremony: During the second week of March of each year.

The First Category: The Date Palm The Second Category: The Human and The Date Palm First place winner: 15,000 UAE dirhams. Second place winner: 10,000 UAE dirhams. Third Place Winner: 5,000 UAE dirhams.[9][10][11]
