Joshua Hathaway (born 19 October 2003) is a rugby union player for Gloucester. He has represented Wales and England at under-20 level. He can play at fly-half, on the wing and at full-back.[1]

Early life edit

Born in Aberyswyth, he attended Ysgol Penglais School[2] He later attended Hartpury College in Gloucestershire.[3]

Career edit

He played for Aberystwyth RFC and represented Ceredigion Schools at age group level.[4][5] Hathaway was a member of the Scarlets Academy.[6] He signed a three year contract with Gloucester RFC in November 2022.[7] He made his debut for Gloucester in the Premiership Rugby Cup in November 2022.[8] In April 2024, he scored a league hat trick for Gloucester against Saracens.[9]

International career edit

He was capped by the Wales U20 in March 2022.[7] Later that year, he changed his national allegiance in order to represent England.[7] He made his first start for England U20 against Scotland U20 in the 2023 Six Nations Under 20s Championship, in February 2023.[10] Playing for England, he scored a hat-trick of tries in 15 minutes on debut against Scotland.[11] He was identified by BBC Sport as one of the stars of the under-20 Six Nations tournament.[12]
