Joani Reid is a Scottish politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for East Kilbride and Strathaven since July 2024.

Early life

She is a granddaughter of Jimmy Reid. She studied politics and philosophy at the University of Glasgow, then went to London for a Masters degree.[1]

She worked as a policy manager at the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges.[2]

Political career

She was a councillor for the Lewisham Central ward in Lewisham for eight years from 2014 to 2022.[3]

She returned to Scotland in 2022.[1]

On 5 July 2024 she was elected as a Member of the Parliament (MP) for East Kilbride and Strathaven.[4]

She is married with two children.[1]
