Issachar (Hebrew: יִשָּׂשכָר, Modern: Yīssaḵar, Tiberian: Yīssāḵār, "reward; recompense") was, according to the Book of Genesis, a son of Jacob and Leah (the fifth son of Leah, and ninth son of Jacob), and the founder of the Israelite tribe of Issachar.
