Ford is an unincorporated community in Deaf Smith County, in the U.S. state of Texas.[1] According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 15 in 2000.

History
editJohn W. Ford relocated his family to his home in the community in November 1901 and it was named for him. He soon served as county assessor. This attracted more settlers to the area. The 1983 county highway map showed three businesses in the settlement. Its population was recorded as 15 in 2000.[2]
Geography
editFord is located at the junction of U.S. Route 385 and Farm to Market Road 2587 in northeastern Deaf Smith County.[2]
Education
editFord's first school was established in 1905. It also served as an interdenominational church and a community center. After it joined the Hereford Independent School District in 1940, it was rarely used until the county bought it and renovated it as a road equipment maintenance shop that next decade. It is also now used as a 4-H Club meetinghouse, an Extension Homemakers club, and an election hall.[2] Today, the community is served by the Vega Independent School District.
