It is extremely hard to know how to upload images. It is both extremely hard practically and also just theorietically.

I have asked, and have, the permission by the creators of this image to use it. They are more than happy I add it to the site. I am just tearing my hair out at the moment to know how any image ever gets here. I undertand all the copyright rules etc but in good faith I ask for permission, the publisher sends me a work with permission, I upload it, and it gets speedy delete. Whats up there? What am I doing wrong?

I had the same thing at Citroen C1 ev'ie I got a picture courtesy of the publishers. The worst claim would be primary source but simply removing it-- especially after I have been in touch it the publishers and got pics from them-- does not smack of good faith to me. In fact it makes me want to give up editing here. I hope you can restore my good faith. SimonTrew (talk) 00:47, 17 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unfortuantely Wikipedia does not accept permission for use only for non-profit use. The only permission accepted is permission for use by anyone for anything, including commercial use. Assertion of permission for non-commercial or educational use or for use only on Wikipedia is itself grounds for speedy deletion.
Fortunately Wikipedia does, however, accept certain images without permission. Use of such images must conform to US fair use law and to Wikipedia's more restrictive non-free content policy. One class of images which can be used this way is logos for use in info boxes.
Non-free images must be tagged with a non-free copyright tag (like {{non-free logo}}) and must include a non-free use rationale for each use. I have provided such for this logo.
You should fill in the source parameter of my rationale. —teb728 t c 23:55, 17 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
