Image resolution edit

@Ronhjones: The file that I have uploaded here is already a lower resolution version of the original. Is there a reason it needs to be reduced further? I'm not terribly knowledgable about copyright law and images, so this isn't a pointed question at all. Regards, Vanamonde (talk) 01:30, 23 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Vanamonde93: The guideline for NFCC images is <100,000 pixels, and can be found at WP:Image resolution. It is a guideline as there are a very small amount of images that truly need to be bigger - and as the guideline says You also may wish to add the {{non-free no reduce}} template to the image rationale page to indicate that your image resolution purposely exceeds the 0.1 megapixels guideline, though this still requires you to include a valid rationale that explains this reasoning; large images using this template without a rationale to explain the large size may be reduced despite this. As far as I know, all film posters have all been successfully reduced to the guideline. Looking in Category:Non-free images tagged for no reduction, it's mainly populated by computer screenshots, where a guideline size, just causes so much corruption, that the image is useless.
