English: The Royal Humane Society of New Zealand's Stead Medal, a gold medal instituted 28th November 1898, from a fund given by the vice-president of the Society, prominent Christchurch businessman George Stead. It was "awarded only for very conspicuous acts of bravery". It was only awarded three times, in 1906, 1909, & 1913. The pictured example is the "Type 1" medal as awarded in 1906 & 1909. It was struck by G. T. White of Wellington.
