Svenska: Edvard Perséus verkade som konstnär med inriktning mot historimåleriet, men sitt viktigaste avtryck i konsthistorien gjorde han som lärare i den egna målarskolan som bland annat förknippas med studievistelser på slottet Gripsholm. Bland hans elever fanns Carl Larsson, Richard Bergh, Karl Nordström, Eugène Jansson, Ernst Josephson och Nils Kreuger. Motivet för den här studien har inte gått att identifera men det är tänkbart att den kommit till under de åtta år som Perséus vistades utomlands.
