Summary

Description Stone Carvings on Moorlands House, Albion Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. As of November 2016 the building was occupied by Starbucks. The photograph was taken from the scaffolding, which was erected for stone-cleaning. The carving is credited to Robert Mawer. Showing not a Greek god, but a joker from a playing card. This is either a self-portrait of Robert Mawer, indicating the ambiguity of the other heads, or a memorial portrait by his stone-carver wife Catherine, because he died before the building was finished.
