Häxan, with Swedish intertitles. 2016 2K restoration by the Swedish Film Institute based on a 35 mm duplicate negative. Instructions for color tinting came from a master positive, and photographs of a tinted nitrate copy from the 1924 book Tinting and Toning of Eastman Positive Motion Picture Film were used as a color reference. The size of the intertitles is based on a fragment of a nitrate copy preserved at the Danish Film Institute, and their color is based on director Benjamin Christensen's notes held at the Swedish Film Institute. |
