Summary

Description
English: Everyone that missed the demonstrations downtown and the Chicago Police Board hearing on Wednesday will never be aware that a truly historical event just took place. People only hearing about it on the news through the mainstream media would have practically zero comprehension of what actually happened. Every local channel was present for the entire duration of the event and yet not a single one aired the entire hearing live or put the unedited footage up on the web for the public to view. This profit driven ineptness has diluted reality, censored the truth, and deprived the audience of an understanding of what actually occurred.

For those that only watched the mainstream news, and who weren't able to witness this in person, their memory of the day's events might be 'protesters storming into Macy's' or 'demonstrators fight with police leading to multiple arrests'. This is due to the routine practice of taking only tiny snippets of sensationalized clips which show emotional content without any broader intellectual substance.

The reality is that on Wednesday, people successfully demonstrated that there is a mass movement building in Chicago which has been taking root for years and now is finally culminating the power to significantly impact politics and force city government to be held accountable.

The mainstream media will typically show inflammatory pictures of protesters scuffling with police and will reduce the entire message to a quick soundbite of chanting at the rally and the audience may think "what does this accomplish?". People who see this would wrongfully get the impression that this is all people are doing.

In fact people in the community and local organizations are doing everything they can including: speaking at public hearings, meeting with city officials, meeting with county officials, meeting with state officials, meeting with federal officials, sending a delegation to address the United Nations in Geneva Switzerland asking for an international investigation, filing lawsuits, hosting press conferences, writing to the media, utilizing social media, creatively expressing through the arts, organizing youth, organizing communities, developing alternative policies, proactively implementing neighborhood programs...and then also exercising the right to free speech and public assembly by organizing mass demonstrations to raise awareness. This is a multifaceted campaign that has taken an incredibly wide range of actions...but you might not realize it if you look to the mainstream news.

Here is the entire video footage of the Chicago Police Board Hearing. Please see for yourself what actually took place.
