Faris (fāris فارس) is an Arabic and Croatian masculine given name translating to "knight," "horseman," or "cavalier" (see furusiyya).[1] It is also common as a western-style surname and is widely used in the Balkans, particularly in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The unrelated Scottish-American surname Faris is an anglicization of MacFergus.[2]
