D'vontaye L. Mitchell (1981 – June 30, 2024) was a 43-year-old African-American man who succumbed to a torturous, video-documented death that involved at least four security staff members of a downtown Milwaukee hotel witnessed pinning Dvontaye Mitchell to the pavement while he pleaded for his life in the final moments leading to his death.[1][2] “It’s like watching the video of George Floyd’s death,” Mitchell’s younger brother, Darrell Giles said. “Everything about it reminds me of George Floyd.”[3] The June 30th, 2024 death of Dvontaye Mitchell sparked national outcry with civil rights activists including Rev Al Sharpton and Attorney Ben Crump leading to call to demand "Justice for Dvontaye".[4]
