Zonia Ysabel Mejia (August 26, 2001)[1] is a Filipino actress. She rose to fame when she became part of a Pinoy Big Brother: 737 as a housemate in 2015 in GMA Network's rival, ABS-CBN. In 2018, she joined GMA Network and signed a contract with then GMA Artist Center (now Sparkle).[2]

She was paired with her love team, Jamir Zabarte in acting projects like Heartful Café and Jose & Maria's Bonggang Villa.

Early life

Zonia Ysabel Mejia was born on August 26, 2001 in Quezon City, Philippines. She is the second youngest of five in her family. Growing up, she was part of a family deeply rooted in swimming. Her parents owned a small bakery.

Career

2015: Becoming a housemate in Pinoy Big Brother: 737

Zonia Mejia became widely recognized after her participation in the reality show, Pinoy Big Brother: 737. Her participation in the program was particularly noteworthy, lasting until day 42 before her elimination.[3][4] Her progress on the show garnered significant public interest and undoubtedly contributed to her rising profile. During her time on Pinoy Big Brother, Zonia was featured alongside other contestants including Bailey May, a fellow housemate who also gained recognition from the show.

2018–present: Shifting to GMA Network, becoming a GMA Artist and rise to fame

In 2018, Zonia shifted to ABS-CBN's rival GMA Network and signed a contract with then GMA Artist Center (now Sparkle).[2]

After moving to the network, she appeared in minor roles in many of GMA Network's television shows such as Magpakailanman, Sahaya, Dear Uge, Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko.[5] and Sarap, 'Di Ba?.[6]

She starred as Sol in Heartful Café[7], Claudette "Clau" Pangan in I Left My Heart in Sorsogon, Mae in Jose & Maria's Bonggang Villa—in which she was paired with Jamir Zabarte and Trixie Engano in Lilet Matias: Attorney-at-Law. She also made an appearance in the daily afternoon talk show Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.[8]

In February 2022, Zonia was launched as part of Sparkle Sweethearts alongside Jamir Zabarte.[1]
