The Yamaha RX-S or now know as Yamaha RX Special is a single-cylinder sport bike made by Yamaha Motor Company in 1981

Specifications

edit

The engine for the first and second generation was a 115 cc single cylinder 2-stroke engine. The bore and stroke were 54.0 mm × 50.0 mm (2.13 in × 1.97 in). This engine had a claimed 13.23 kW (17.74 hp) of power at 8,500 rpm and 14.5 N⋅m (10.7 lbf⋅ft) of torque at 8,000 rpm. The transmission is a return type five-speed with a constant mesh wet multi-plate clutch.

RX-S or now known as RX Special is the predecessor of the RX-King motorbike series produced by Yamaha Motor Company in 1981, initially this motorbike was known simply as RX-S (1981-1983) then underwent a facelift in 1983 with the name RX-Special but still has the same engine specifications as its predecessor RX-S

In Indonesia, the first generation RX-S or RX-Special was imported directly from its home country, Japan, in complete condition (CBU), unlike its successor, the RX King, which was brought separately (CKD), then the rest was assembled in Indonesia, while the engine was still brought intact from Japan.

RX-Special

Even though it has almost the same vehicle and engine design as the RX-King, the RX-S/Special has slightly lower engine dimensions compared to its successor, namely only 115cc. Another striking difference is that the headlight design of the RX-S motorbike has a half fairing which makes The lamp shell has a classic design which was common in Japanese motorbike designs at that time

The changes from the RX-S to the RX Special were only minor, namely the addition of a rear light cover. The RX-S/Special was only produced in Indonesia and was a direct competitor of the 2-stroke motorbikes that existed in Indonesia at the time, which were in the same class as the Suzuki TRS and Binter ( Kawasaki ) GTO, while its comparable competitor in 4-stroke motorbikes is the Honda GL Max
