WEMC stands for "Women’s Empowerment in Muslim Contexts: gender, poverty and democratisation from the inside out" and is a Research Program Consortium funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID).[1] WEMC is a multi-country initiative focusing on women's empowerment in four nodal countries: Pakistan, Iran, Indonesia, and China.[2][3]
