Wayne Steven Jackson is an award-winning performance maker, writer, and academic.
Education

Jackson graduated with a BA (Hons.) in Theatre Studies from Lancaster University in 2004, an MA in Contemporary Performance from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2008, and completed his PhD at London South Bank University[1]. He grew up in Thorngumbald, Hull.
Career
editHe was co-Artistic Director of Escape Theatre between 2004 and 2008. His early solo work includes Losing (2008), How I Lost the Pound Coin (And Why I Want It Back) (2010), and (and two) (2012). In 2011 he became Head of Theatre and Performance at the prestigious Arden School of Theatre.
In 2017, Wayne created and performed the critically acclaimed Now|Then[2][3][4] as part of the Hull UK City of Culture celebrations, a performance journeyed through the streets in a taxi set to a stunning soundtrack composed by Oscar and BAFTA winner Christopher Benstead.
In 2020, he wrote and performed From Me To Us, a performance film documenting the change to UK Surrogacy Law, supported by Arts Council England, which featured at numerous UK theatres and international film festivals, winning Best Indie Feature at Barcelona's Indie House. The piece was later adapted into a radio drama.
In 2022, his national tour of And Here I Find Myself began at Manchester's The Lowry and finished at Hull Truck Theatre.

editFollowing the success of From Me To Us, Jackson featured in two editions of BBC's Sex, Drugs, and Lullabies[5][6] and Renewing the World[7] to discuss his theatrical work exploring parenthood and single parent surrogacy.
