2018–2021: Produce 48 and debut with Everglow edit

In 2018, Wang competed in the South Korean reality show Produce 48 as a trainee of Yuehua Entertainment alongside labelmates Kim Si-hyeon and Choi Ye-na.[5] She was eliminated from the show in episode 11, finishing in 28th place.[6]

In February 2019, Wang was revealed as a member of Yuehua Entertainment's future girl group Everglow.[7] On March 21, 2019, Wang made her musical debut within Everglow on the music show M Countdown, following the release of the single album Arrival of Everglow and its title track "Bon Bon Chocolat".[8]

On September 27, 2020, during the promotion period of Everglow's single "La Di Da", Wang appeared as a guest on SBS' variety show Running Man.[9]

Controversies edit

Chinese greeting in South Korea edit

On January 2, 2022, Everglow held a fan signing event in South Korea. To greet her fans, Yiren made a gesture with her hands, common and respectful in Chinese culture, in contrast to the deep bows of the other five members of the group. A video of the event was spread in the media, triggering criticism from Korean netizens, who demanded that Yiren "return to her native country". Following this, Yuehua Entertainment announced a temporary suspension of Yiren's activities with the group.[17]
