Wong Ka Hei (Cantonese: 黃珈熙; born December 9, 1996), known professionally by the mononym Vivi (occasionally stylised as ViVi - Hangul: 비비) is a Hong Kong born singer and K-pop idol. From 2017 until 2023, she was a member of the girl group Loona and its sub-unit, Loona 1/3. She signed with CTD E&M in June 2023[1] and debuted as a member of Loossemble in September of the same year.[2]

Early life

edit

Wong Ka Hei was born on December 9, 1996, in Tuen Mun District, New Territories, Hong Kong. She is the eldest of three children, with a younger brother and a younger sister.

From 2011 until 2016, she worked as a freelance model in Hong Kong, under the name "Viian Wong".

For her audition she sang a song by Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai, but passed the audition by singing "Choco Chip Cookies" by Goo Hara.

She was inspired to become a K-pop idol after watching videos of Big Bang and 2NE1 when she was in middle school.

Her stage name "Vivi" is taken from the name she went by when she worked as a model.

She graduated from Catholic Ming Yuen Secondary School.

When Vivi first travelled to South Korea, she couldn't speak much Korean. Her members, especially Heejin and Haseul, used to help her practice when she first debuted.

Career

edit

Loona

edit

Vivi was revealed as the fifth member of Loona and the final member of Loona 1/3 on February 14, 2017. Heejin, Hyunjin, Haseul, and Vivi released their debut EP, Love & Live in the same month, releasing a repackage titled Love & Evil in April. Vivi later went to release her self-titled single ViVi on April 17, with "Everyday I Love You", featuring fellow member Haseul, as its title track. Her single peaked at number 14 on the Gaon Weekly Album Chart.

She officially debuted with the whole group on August 20, 2018 with the EP [+ +],[3] which peaked at number 2 on the Gaon Album Chart.[4]

Blockberry Creative lawsuit

edit

After Loona's agency Blockberry Creative announced on November 25, 2022, that the group's tenth member, Chuu, would be removed from the group, nine other members filed injuctions to suspend their exclusive contracts with the company in early 2023, while Hyunjin and Vivi filed theirs a few months later.

Vivi, along with Hyunjin, both won their lawsuits in early May, signing with CTD E&M in June.

Loossemble

edit

Vivi and four other Loona members (Hyunjin, Yeojin, Go Won, and Hyeju) came together to form Loossemble (Loona assemble) on September 15, 2023. The group debuted with their epynomous EP, Loossemble, which was lead by the title track "Sensitive" along with 7 other tracks, including an English version of "Sensitive" and a song written and produced by former Loona member Yves, titled "Strawberry soda".
