Victor Acosta (born May 23, 1977) is a Dominican-American[1] writer and novelist.
Born in Salcedo, Dominican Republic, Acosta migrated with his family to The Bronx when he was eleven years old.
Early life edit
Acosta was born in Salcedo, Dominican Republic. He is the first child among 3 siblings. Throughout most of his early childhood, he lived with his father and grandparents while his mother worked in the United States. In October 1987 he Migrated to the Bronx New York, where he was reunited with his mother. There he lived less than 2 miles from Yankee Stadium.
Acosta attended Intermediate School 147 Diana Sands in the Bronx and graduated from Park West High School in 1994 in New York City. Acosta enrolled in Mercy College in 1995 where he worked as a part-time math tutor and dropped out after the first semester.
He became a father at the age of seventeen while working as a pizza delivery boy and attending college. He progressed to become successful as a Technical Drafter for a Midtown structural engineering firm via unflinching effort, eventually growing to the position of a Manager.
His literary works now feature a distinctive fusion of urban experiences and cultural depth, which was made possible by this relocation. Drawing inspiration from his grandparents' fascinating life story, Acosta honors their lasting legacy in "Shadows Beneath the Shore: Secrets of a Dominican Mine."
Aside from his writing endeavors, Mr. Acosta is a shining example of the transformational power of enthusiasm and perseverance in accomplishing one's objectives and a belief in self-improvement.
Acosta's writing pursuits, such as "Shadows Beneath the Shore: Secrets of a Dominican Mine" and "The Fire Within: How Passion Can Fuel Success in Life," as well as the children's book series “The Adventures of Barry the Weiner Dog” were inspired by his different experiences, which included living in Medellin, Colombia.
