Biography edit

Ulvi Guliyev was born on September 17, 1966, in Baku, into the family of Professor Zahid Guliyev. In 1983, he graduated from Secondary School No. 9 in Nasimi district, Baku. From 1983 to 1988, he successfully completed the Faculty of Pharmacy at Azerbaijan State Medical University. In the years 1998–2002, he graduated from the Law Faculty of Baku State University.[2]

He is married and has two children. He is the son of Dr. Zahid Guliyev, a linguist and professor. Ulvi Gahramanov is fluent in Russian and English.

Sport activity edit

He holds the title of the Eighth Dan black belt in the discipline of karate, and he is a European and World champion in karate. He has been honored with the title of "Honored Sports Master" of the Republic of Azerbaijan, "Honored Coach" of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and by the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Azerbaijan on March 5, 2008, he was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Figure in Physical Education and Sports."

From 1992 to 1997, he served as the President of the Karate-do Federation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and since 1997, he has been the president of the Azerbaijan Karate-do Federations Association.[3]

Socio-political activity edit

Since 1988, he has worked as a pharmacist, chief pharmacist, and pharmacy manager. In 2002, he became the head of the Customs Office of the State Customs Committee, and in 2005, he worked as the deputy director (Customs Service, Colonel-Lieutenant) of the "Customsman" Sports Health Center.

In 2005, he was elected as a deputy from the 21st Nasimi electoral district (III convocation - member of the Committee on Legal Policy and State Building), in 2010, from the 17th Yasamal 3rd electoral district (IV convocation - member of the Committee on Legal Policy and State Building), and in 2015, from the 15th Yasamal 1st electoral district (V convocation). He served as the deputy chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee. In 2018, he was elected as the Chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee. In 2020, he was elected as a deputy from the 15th Yasamal 1st electoral district (VI convocation - member of the Youth and Sports Committee, Health Committee).

He is a member of the Inter parliamentary Commission on Bilateral Cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. He is also a member of working groups on relations with the parliaments of the Federal Republic of Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Korea, Russia, and Turkey.
