The Ukraine Medical Consortium (UMC) is a nonprofit organisation that supports healthcare professionals in crisis zones throughout Ukraine. The UMC was founded to to provide needed medical training and education, as well providing life-saving medical equipment, were needed within Ukraine. The UMC achieved this by partnering with various different institutes, and providing an affiliated program between doctors at Havard Medical School and educational facilities throughout Ukraine, notably Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University..[1]
History and Background
editThe UMC was founded at the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it brought together experts in their relative fields to provide aid specialising in areas with a critical lack of training and supplies. The leadership team consists of notable figures experienced in their respective fields.

The use of this experienced board allowed the UMC to streamline the process of providing support with an internal goal being to remove unnecessary bureaucracy within the healthcare-sector of Ukraine. The team was able to establish strong links with other governmental and nonprofit organisations, which allowed for the creation of a palliative care training project organised by the UMC, that allows for doctors within Ukraine to receive the European Certificate in Essential Palliative Care[3]
