  • several centuries ago (according to the chronicles, already around 800 CE), the cult place of the Slavs living in today's Bolesławiec area was a temple located in today's town of Ołobok.
  • end of the 9th–10th century – the creation of a Slavic tribal stronghold.
  • 13th century – a settlement guarding the crossing over the Bóbr River.
  • approx. 1251 - obtaining city rights under Magdeburg law.
  • 17th and 18th centuries - a center of silica production and pottery - Bolesławiec is still known for Bolesławiec pottery.
  • 1740–1763 Bolesławiec, together with most of Silesia, found itself within the borders of Prussia as a result of the Silesian Wars.
  • 1813 - Mikhail Kutuzov, a Russian field marshal, dies here.
  • 19th century - glassworks were established.
  • construction of a 2-track railway line from Miłkowice in October 1845.
  • 1922: construction of the Monument to the Heroes of World War I in the forest at today's ul. Jelenia Góra.

  • 1945:
    • January The approach of the Red Army resulted in the flight and unprepared evacuation of the German population. Many escapees died - either as a result of frontline operations or as a result of high frosts.
    • February 12 - the city was occupied by the Red Army.
    • Bolesławiec is incorporated into Poland.
    • July 22 – the first Polish mayor of Bolesławiec Śląski, Bolesław Kubik, died. Kubik's death was the result of wounds suffered the day before, as a result of a mine explosion, during field work on a farm in the village of Tillendorf (today Bolesławice).
  • 1945–1947:
    • The small German population who did not escape from the approaching Red Army in January 1945 was expelled from the city under the agreement between the USA, Great Britain and the USSR concluded during the Yalta Conference.
    • Depatriates from the Eastern Borderlands arrive in the city. Returnees from Yugoslavia and France also come to Bolesławiec.
  • 1945–1975: Bolesławiec was the district town of the Wrocław Voivodeship.
  • 1975–1998: Bolesławiec within the Jelenia Góra Voivodeship.
