The Prabhat is a is the leading Gujarati-language daily newspaper published in India and a part of the Prabhat group of Newspapers. It was founded in 1934 with its headquarters in Ahmedabad.

The Prabhat group of Newspapers was founded by Veteran Journalist Kakalbhai Ravjibhai Kothari. Kakalbhai was deeply inspired by the newspapers of that time Navjeevan, published by Navjeevan Trust. This made him write multiple books such as "Buzato Deepak," "Lenin," "Zhandadhari," "Narveer Lalaji," and "Rashtriya Shivraj," amongst others. He then was a driving force of Phulchhab. Post that he edited the "Navsaurashtra" which was then renamed to "The Prabhat". He also played a very important role in the Indian independence movement.
Kakalbhai Kothari was mentioned as an "Unsung Hero" during the freedom fight during the occasion of 75 years of independence.
