Draft:The Earth Saviours Foundation

'

The Earth Saviours Foundation (TESF) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Gurugram, Haryana, India. Founded in 2008 by social activist Ravi Kalra, TESF is dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of vulnerable populations, including abandoned elderly individuals, homeless individuals with mental disabilities, and marginalized women. The organization also extends its support to victims of domestic violence, rape, physical injuries, and those suffering from severe illnesses such as HIV and schizophrenia. In addition to its social welfare activities, TESF is engaged in environmental conservation and public awareness efforts aimed at fostering a more compassionate and sustainable society.[1][2][3]

History

edit

The foundation was established in 2008 by Ravi Kalra, who was driven by a deep concern for the homeless and abandoned, particularly the elderly and those with mental illnesses. He envisioned an organization that would provide shelter, food, medical care, and dignity to these individuals. Initially, TESF began with small rescue operations but has since grown into a large organization with multiple facilities.

In December 2021, following Ravi Kalra's passing[4], leadership of the foundation was assumed by his son, Jas Kalra.[5] Under his leadership, TESF has broadened its operations and launched new initiatives to advance its mission.[6][7]

Activities

edit

TESF operates several facilities, including old age homes and rescue centers, where comprehensive care is provided to over 1,000 residents. The organization’s services include:

  • Rescue and Rehabilitation: TESF conducts rescue operations to bring homeless individuals, particularly the elderly and mentally ill, off the streets and into its care facilities, where they receive shelter, food, and medical attention.
  • Environmental Initiatives: TESF promotes eco-friendly practices, such as the use of electric crematoriums to reduce the environmental impact of traditional cremation methods.
  • Awareness Campaigns: The organization runs public awareness campaigns on various issues, including elder care, mental health, and environmental conservation.[8]

Recognition and Impact

edit

TESF has gained recognition for its significant contributions, including collaborations with organizations like the Rotary Club of Delhi South. Its work has been featured in national and international media, highlighting the impact it has had on both local communities and society at large. The foundation’s activities are supported by donations from individuals, corporations, and other NGOs.[9][10][11][1]

Current Project

edit

TESF is currently undertaking the construction of what it aims to be the world's largest free shelter home. This facility is expected to provide care for over 5,000 elderly, homeless, and destitute individuals. The project is being developed with the assistance of various organizations and aims to set a new standard in social welfare.[12]
