The Best Day of Your Life is an American comedic thriller film and the second motion picture created by University of Central Missouri graduate, Aaron Dougherty. It stars Alan Michael Dougherty, and prominently features Kyle Ament, Benzino (rapper), Christian Kimbrough, Jake Brown, Cilicia Clarkson, Brian Newman, and comedian Mike Samp. The film’s producers, Aaron Dougherty and Lawrence “Omega” Edwards make cameo appearances.

The film premiered at film festivals, winning two titles: Audience Choice Award from the 2022 Kansas City Film Festival and Best New Director at Downtown Los Angeles Film Festival in 2022. It made official selection at other festivals.[4] It is pending public release.

Plot edit

Derrick’s best friend is recently married. He resents the idea of marriage and is committed to the idea that he’ll never tie the knot. But sometimes things are closer than they appear. On one unfortunate day, Derrick falls asleep only to experience his greatest fears. The worse part of it all, it’s more real than he thinks.[5]

According to an interview with DJ Chris "PlayMaker" on KPRS Hot 103 Jamz, the film is based on a true story surrounding his life and others people's stories. [6] He shared the same with another radio station [7] This wouldn't be the first time the award winning director has made a film based on a true story. [8]

Production edit

In took nearly 2 years to film, according to Aaron in his Hot 103 Jamz interview. The film was primarily shot during weekend dates, as to accommodate staff and actors.
