Mentions of his blog are not important, nor what he is a "fan of" as there's little chance those topics are covered by reliable, secondary sources. The subject does seem to be notable, so let me know when this is fixed and I'll take another look. Utopes (talk / cont) 22:56, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

Syudou (born September 27, 1995), stylized as syudou, is a Japanese singer-songwriter, music producer, and Vocaloid producer. He was born in Yamanashi Prefecture and raised in Tochigi Prefecture.[2]

As of 2021, he has released many Vocaloid songs, original songs, and self-covers.[3][Note 1] Some of his popular songs include Usseewa (sung by Ado), Bitter Choco Decoration, Call Boy, Cute Girlfriend, and Bakushou.

Career

edit

Syudou started playing music after the influence of his family. In 2012 he posted videos of drum covers on the Internet, and in late 2012 he became a Vocaloid producer.[4] His oldest video on YouTube has been deleted[Note 2],so his oldest remaining song is "Funassyi no Uta" posted in 2013. [5] Because of this, his fans call him "Funassyi Man". On Niconico Douga, his oldest song is "No. 4 Garakuta Street".[6] Before 2012 he posted MAD videos on Niconico Douga.[7] In 2016, he tried covering other people's songs. [8][Note 3] Even after he got a job, he continued his activities. In January 2018, he posted a song "Sabu" and it became a hit. In the same year, Syudou contributed his first song to the idol group Juju. He went on to release many hits, and in 2019, he released his first album. Then, in January 2020, he quit his job and became a musician.[2] Since January 2021, he has been posting and updating the radio stream "Syudou's Lonely Radio", which is a personal project.

After the song “Bitter Choco Decoration” that he posted in 2019 became a hit, he began to actively compose music for others as a lyricist and composer. On October 23, 2020, the song Usseewa (sung by Ado) was released.[9][10] Since 2021, Ado and syudou have been attracting more media attention. [11]

Syudou's first original song "Hebereke Junkie" was released on March 30, 2021[12].

On February 25, 2022, a teaser video for syudou's first live performance "Ouen" was released on YouTube.[13] Later, on April 29th of the same year, a song with the same name was released. On May 3rd, it was streamed as an online live on PIA LIVE STREAM. Shortly after the live broadcast ended, Syudou announced that he would host his first live with an audience, "Acceleration," at Nakano Sunplaza on August 8. The reason he chose Nakano Sunplaza is because he was born in Yamanashi and raised in Tochigi, which are both places he calls home. As a student, he often visited the venue for live events, so he had a deep fondness for it.[14] It was announced that the Plaza would close on July 2, 2023, and he wanted to perform at the Plaza before its closure.[15]

Personal life

edit

Syudou started learning about musical instruments when he joined the brass band club in middle school. After that, he started posting drum covers on a video site. He and his friends formed a band when during high school, but they disbanded. Around that time, he started making desktop music. By the time he entered university, he decided to aim to be a composer. He bought a computer and a digital audio workstation, sent demo tapes to record companies, and began working as a Vocaloid producer in earnest.[4] Even after getting a job, however, he continued his activities as a Vocaloid producer. His 2019 song "Bitter Choco Decoration" was a hit. In 2020, he retired from his company because he was able to make a living solely from music.[2]

On January 27, 2024, Syudou wrote a song for Project Voltage, the collab with the Pokemon franchise, titled "I'm a Ghost Type".[16] He has an older sister, who introduced him to Pokemon when he was in kindergarten, and his fascination with Lavender Town inspired the song.[17]
