Southfield Mall is a mall in Deerfield, Illinois. It currently has 4 anchors, which are Macy's, JCPenney, Kohl's, and Bob's Discount Furniture
History
editThe mall opened in 1967 with Sears, Marshall Field's, and JCPenney, and the mall would quickly grow in 1968 when Bergner's and Montgomery Ward built and opened their stores. In 1971, Younkers opened a small one-floor store in the mall, and in 1973, Lord & Taylor opened its store in the mall. In 1985, Montgomery Ward closed its store, and in 1988, Kohl's would take the former Montgomery Ward space. In 1989, the Bergner's would get rebranded to Carson's, but in 1994, Younkers closed. In 1995, Linens 'n Things replaced the Younkers space. In 2004, Linens 'n Things relocate their store to the new Southfield Center which opened in 1998, with Steve & Barry's replacing the former Linens 'n Things space that same year. In 2006, Marshall Field's converted to a Macy's, but in 2008, Steve & Barry's went out of business, and the space got replaced by H. H. Gregg in 2010. In 2016, the H. H. Gregg would close and get replaced by TJ Maxx in 2017. In 2018, TJ Maxx relocated to the Southfield Center and Carson's would close. In 2019, Sears closed, and in 2020, Lord & Taylor closed, and Bob's Discount Furniture replaced the former TJ Maxx space
Southfield Center
editSouthfield Center opened in 1998 with Steve & Barry's, Circuit City, Sports Authority, and Bed Bath & Beyond. In 2004, Steve & Barry's relocated to Southfield Mall, and Linens 'n Things relocated from the mall, replacing the Steve & Barry's space in the shopping center. In 2008, Linens 'n Things closed. In 2009, Circuit City closed. In 2010, Best Buy replaced the former Linens 'n Things and Circuit City, and Nordstrom Rack would open a store. In 2016, Sports Authority goes out of business. In 2018, TJ Maxx relocated from Southfield Mall to replace Sports Authority, and finally in 2023, Bed Bath & Beyond closed
