Chidalu Fortune Tony, better known as Socket is a Nigerian rap artist and label owner. Born in Owerri Nigeria in 2003, he is popularly known for his raw and storytelling rapping pattern.[1]
Early Life
editSocket,[2] hasn't publicly shared much about his early life. According to a podcast interview on Spotify, he said he prefers his music do the talking, which often speaks about his life experiences and observations. Socket was born on the 14 February, 2003, and was raised in Owerri a city in Nigeria. He first schooled at Living Word Academy and was a student of Alvana Model Secondary School. when growing he engaged himself in some social activities in school. Socket passion for music developed while growing and he recorded his first single "My woman" in 2018 which made him popular within his neighborhood, and few months later recorded another single titled "Leave me". He also studied computer engineering in Imo state university.
Career
editSocket developed interest in music production and decided to start his own record label Socket Entertainment in 2023. In 2023 after several years of recording "My woman" and "Leave me", Socket officially released this two singles as an album and titled it "BI2K18".
Socket Entertainment is an independent Nigerian record label founded by Chidalu Fortune Tony on 16 January, 2023. This label focuses more on rap artists. Some of their artist include Socket himself, Cut, Blessed, and other upcoming artist. This label has a distribution deal with AWAL and Believe music. On the 17 July, 2023 They signed a distribution deal with AWAL (originally Artist Without A Label) a company acquired by Sony Music Entertainment in May 2021.[3] Their partnership with Believe music started on 7 September, 2023.
