Sobo & Sobo LLP is an American personal injury law firm headquartered in Middletown, New York. It was founded in 1969 by Gary M. Sobo, Esq, before his son took over as CEO in 2002.[1] The firm represents victims who are injured by a negligent parties in cases such as traffic accidents, premises liability, worker's compensation, and medical malpractice. The firm has offices located in New York, New Jersey, and Illinois.

Gary Sobo, Esq. originally founded Sobo & Sobo in 1969 as a firm that offered real estate and probate legal services. In 2002, Gary's son Greg Sobo took over as the firm's Founder and CEO, and shifted its focus to personal injury law, for which they are now most well known.[2]

By the early 2010s, the firm opened five offices located throughout New York's Hudson Valley region, as well as Manhattan, and the Bronx. In 2023, the firm opened three new offices in New Jersey and Illinois, expanding their reach outside of New York state. As of 2023, Sobo & Sobo has a staff size of 275 employees, including over 50 attorneys that practice in 15 counties.

In 2020, Inc.com included Sobo & Sobo in their annual Inc 5000 list of the fastest-growing companies in the United States.[3] On February 20, 2022, The New York Times featured the firm's CEO Greg Sobo, Esq. for receiving Lawyers of Distinction's® "2022 Power Attorney Award". In 2022, the firm secured a $1,500,000 premises liability settlement which was noted as one of the largest compensation amounts in the field that year.[4]

The firm has also been recognized for their work by legal service review sites including Super Lawyers®, The American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys® (AIOPIA), America's Best Attorneys®, and others.[5][6] In 2024, law firm review site Best of the Best Attorneys® rated Sobo & Sobo among the "Top Ten Personal Injury Law Firms in New York".[7] In December 2023, The National Trial Lawyers® selected Greg Sobo, Esq. to receive their "Top Rated Lawyers in New York 2024" award.[8]

Litigation edit

Greg Sobo, Esq. was hired to represent the survivors of the 2017 Times Square car attack that took place in New York City on May 18, 2017.[9] The case involves a lawsuit against a navy veteran who drove his car through crowds of people in Times Square, and charged with second degree murder, as well as multiple attempted murders and assaults.[10] In July 2018, Sobo filed a second claim against New York City for unspecified damages, alleging that the city failed to provide adequate protection from civilian attacks.[11]

Community Service edit

Sobo & Sobo engages in various community service endeavors within the regions they serve. Among these is their annual fundraiser for St. Jude's Children Research Hospital. The firm also hosts an annual Scholarship Contest that provides opportunities for local high school seniors to fund their higher education pursuits.[12] In 2023, Sobo & Sobo also launched a charity program that provides care packages for the homeless in New York City during the holidays.
