- Comment: I still believe in this article, though it still fails to pass WP:GNG. I love the addition of the LA Times article, it just needs more sources like that. I could see this becoming an article. OnlyNanotalk 22:58, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: The documentary film may actually be notable but you need to add reliable sources. I have seen a handful which will allow it pass WP:GNG. Jamiebuba (talk) 09:49, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
Slave Play. Not a Movie. A Play is a feature length documentary film, and the directorial debut of playwright, Jeremy O. Harris. The film debuted on June 10, 2024 at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City and is produced by Chris Moukarbel and Natalia-Leigh Brown[1]
Slave Play. Not a Movie. A Play. is described as a playful and illuminating self-portrait of writer Jeremy O. Harris[2] as he workshops and and dissects Slave Play, the much talked about Broadway play which gained Harris initial notoriety, with a new cast of young actors from New York's William Esper Studio.
Plot: "Slave Play. Not A Movie. A Play.," a film by playwright Jeremy O. Harris, is an in-depth look behind the scenes of the director's controversial 2019 debut Broadway play of the same name. Slave Play, the 12-time Tony Award-nominated plY, follows three interracial couples as they explore the tension in racial power dynamics within a kinky therapy session that involves role-playing on a fictitious plantation in Virginia.[3] The documentary is centered around on a workshop that Harris hosted in 2022 with acting students from the William Esper Studio in New York. Over a two day period, he led the 23 students playing the eight characters in a reading and deconstruction of "Slave Play."[4]
The documentary is an HBO original production and debuted on the channel on June 20, 2024[5]
