Sheikh Mohammad Iqbal is an Indian historian of Islam and a former archaeologist.[1] He is also considered an authority on the early history of Saudi Arabia.[2] Iqbal worked as a professor, principal,[3] and Director of the Department of Libraries, Research, Museums, and Archaeology in the Jammu & Kashmir Government.[4] His directorship is noted for having discovered and excavated the tomb of Malik Saifuddin (Suhabhatta), the prime minister of Sultan Sikandar.[5] He also served as a Fulbright-Hays Senior Scholar to the United States of America.[2]
