Shama Sanjay (born Shama Krishna) is an Indian dancer, actress and host known for her work in Kannada television.
Personal life and career
editShama Sanjay is from Bangalore and learned Bharatanatyam at the age of 7 from Usha Datar.[1][2] She worked as an anchor for several shows in Udaya TV such as Super Seven, Dr Raj Geethegalu and Top Ten Programmes while she was still in college. She did a course in IATA and wanted to work in the travel industry. Shama is a dancer and learned Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam from her husband actor Sanjay Shantaram, who she had first met in 1994 in college and married in 1998. Ashok Naidu discovered her at Sanjay's house and cast her in the television serial Kana. She has since acted in serials such as Mayamruga, Kamana Billu, Aasare, Athige, Punarjanma, Gouthami and Sapthapadi.[3]
She alongside her husband has done over 100 dance performances across India, Oman, the United States and France.[4][2] They manage the Shivapriya School of Dance.[3]
