Scramble for the Skies: The Great Power Competition to Control the Resources of Outer Space [1] is a book by Dr. Namrata Goswami and Peter Garretson meant as a cross-over text to introduce the topic and implications of space resources to the international relations and space policy community.
It covers topics such as space expansionism, space colonization, Lunar mining, Asteroid Mining, Space-Based Solar Power, in the context of great power competition, territoriality, and resource nationalism, and provides the grand strategic context for the formation of the United States Space Force.
It examines the United States Space Program, the Chinese Space Program, the Indian Space Program, the UAE Space Program, and the Luxembourg Space Program.
It examines the important role played by the L5 Society, National Space Society, Space Frontier Foundation as an epistemic community. Within the field of International Relations, it is considered a realist text, with significant influences from strategic culture and John Kingdon's model. It examines the strategic culture of both great powers and middle powers and their influence on the international society.
