Sayyid Taghi Mousavi Dorchei (born 1938 CE and passed away 2010 CE), commonly known as Sayyid Taghi Dorchei, was a Shia cleric, political prisoner, and activist against the Pahlavi regime. He was also a member of the central council of the Combatant Clergy Association. Introduction and Education Background Sayyid Taghi Mousavi Dorchei, commonly known as Sayyid Taghi Dorchei, was born in 1938 CE in Darcheh, a suburb of Isfahan. [1] [1] He completed his preliminary education up to high school in Isfahan before entering the seminary to pursue religious studies. He studied under prominent scholars such as Sayyid Hassan Faqih Imami. [2] Later, he continued his studies at the Qom Seminary, where he learned advanced jurisprudence and principles from notable instructors including Hussein-Ali Montazeri, Rabbani Shirazi, and Mohaghegh Damad.[3] Sayyid Taghi Dorchei passed away on August 20, 2010 CE, in Tehran after a period of illness. He was buried in the shrine of Abd al-Azim Hasani in Shahr-e Rey.[4] Political Activities While pursuing his studies, Sayyid Taghi Dorchei was actively involved in political activities, including disseminating and distributing leaflets from Sayyid Ruhollah Khomeini and delivering speeches against the Pahlavi regime.[5] To further his education, he traveled to the Qom Seminary.[6] In Qom, he engaged in political activism alongside figures such as Hussein-Ali Montazeri and Rabbani Shirazi in support of Sayyid Ruhollah Khomeini. This activism led to his arrest by the SAVAK (the Iranian secret police), and he was imprisoned multiple times. [7] He served various sentences in the Qasr and Ghazel Hessar prisons. Sayyid Taghi Dorchei was released from prison in 1979 CE amidst the upheaval of the Iranian Revolution.[8] Following the revolution's success, he took on various roles and responsibilities, which are detailed below.[9] Post-Revolution Activities Member of the Reception Committee for Ruhollah Khomeini: In February 1979, Sayyid Taghi Dorchei played a significant role in welcoming Ruhollah Khomeini upon his return to Iran. Member of Sayyid Ruhollah Khomeini’s Office: He was actively involved in Khomeini’s office, contributing to the administration of the revolutionary movement. Representative for Implementing the Eight-Point Decree in Hormozgan Province: Appointed to oversee the execution of Khomeini’s directives in Hormozgan, ensuring adherence to revolutionary policies. Coordinator of Public Aid for the Iran-Iraq War: Responsible for organizing and managing civilian assistance and contributions to support Iran during the conflict with Iraq.

Head of the Election Committee in Shahr-e-Rey: Oversaw and managed the electoral processes and campaigns in the city of Shahr-e-Rey. Editor-in-Chief of "Shahed" Magazines for 20 Years: Served as the chief editor of the influential "Shahed" magazines, contributing to media and publication during a critical period. Manager and Owner of "Sorat" Newspaper: Managed and held ownership of the "Sorat" publication, furthering his engagement in media and journalism. Member of the Central Council of the Society of Combatant Clergy of Tehran: Contributed to the strategic and organizational aspects of the Society of Combatant Clergy. Founding Member and Central Council Member of the Assembly of Combatant Clergy of Tehran: Played a crucial role in the establishment and administration of the Assembly of Combatant Clergy. Head of the Cultural Committee of the Assembly of Combatant Clergy of Tehran: Led cultural initiatives and activities within the Assembly, focusing on the promotion of revolutionary and cultural values.[10]
