SOTI is a Canadian software company that provides Enterprise mobility management, Mobile device management products focused on managing corporate owned mobile devices.

SOTI was founded by Carl Rodrigues in 1995 and is headquartered in Mississauga, Canada.[2] It currently has offices in several countries including Canada,[3] India,[4] Ireland,[5] and the United Kingdom.[6] SOTI’s first product was a software that allowed users to control phones remotely from laptop or desktop computers, which was eventually named Pocket Controller.[7]

In 2020, SOTI invested $20 million (CAD) to fund SOTI Aerospace in a multi-year collaboration with Toronto Metropolitan University.[8]
Sponsorships edit
SOTI has an active partnership with the Mississauga Steelheads, a member of the Ontario Hockey League. In 2021, the company announced an extension of their partnership with the Mississauga Steelheads through the 2024 season.[9]
Philanthropy edit
During the COVID-19 pandemic, SOTI participated in the Lifelines4LovedOnes initiative, founded by TMT First, to help affected patients stay connected with their loved ones.[10] This partnership supplied mobile tablets to the National Health Service (NHS) and care home patients who were cut off from family and friends. Refurbished tablets and smartphones were donated to NHS hospitals and care homes, with the goal of helping to connect patients with their friends and family through video calling.
Patent Litigation edit
In 2018, SOTI was sued by WPEM, accusing it of infringing U.S. Patent No. 9,148,762 with the Speed Lockdown feature of SOTI’s MobiControl product. United States federal judge James Rodney Gilstrap dismissed the case in 2020, stating that the technology used by SOTI—which included the same features—predated the patent. The judge stated that WPEM had not conducted a pre-filing investigation into the validity and enforceability of the asserted patent.[11]
