SLOW MERGE is an American alternative rock project conceived by singer-songwriter and producer Kyle Platz. Drawing heavily from influences such as Thom Yorke, Sigur Rós, Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, and DJ Shadow, SLOW MERGE incorporates the use of electronic elements and sampling into their sound, alongside more traditional rock instrumentation.
History edit
SLOW MERGE began in 2019 as a long-distance collaboration between Kyle Platz in Raleigh, North Carolina and Jonathan Allen in New Orleans, Louisiana. A fan of Allen's previous involvement with the band MuteMath, Platz contacted Allen via Instagram and began sending him demos, to which Allen then added ideas of his own. After several years of musical exploration, the pair independently released their debut single, "Brutal Light", on October 31st, 2023, which also consisted of two b-sides, "Corridor" and "All Will Remain Open".
