Ryan Davies (born 29 April 2002) is an English snooker player.[1]
Early life edit
From Oldham, Greater Manchester, he attended Blessed John Henry Newman Roman Catholic College. He hit his first century break as a 12 year-old at an EASB regional snooker tour match at the National Snooker Centre in Leeds in 2014.[2]
Career edit
In 2017, aged 14 years-old, he was filmed scoring a maximum 147 break at Savannah Snooker and Pool Club in Whitefield, Greater Manchester.[3]
Davies won the English national under-14, 16 and 18 snooker titles, and in 2018-19 finished top of the rankings on the national Under-21 Premier Tour. That season, aged 16-years-old, Davies reached the last 64 of the 2018 Paul Hunter Classic ranking event, and also defeated Robbie Williams, Ben Mertens and Sunny Akani to make the last 16 of the 2019 Snooker Shoot Out in February 2019.[4][5]
In March 2023, he added the English national under-21 title defeating Liam Pullen, Jake Crofts and Lewis Ullah on the way to the title.[6]
Given a wildcard to the 2023 UK Championship in November 2023, he faced Anton Kazakov in the first qualifying round and triumphed 6-1.[7] In the next round he completed a 121 break as he took world number 56 David Grace to a decider before losing 6-5.[8]
Personal life edit
The son of Martin Davies, his brother Aaron Davies is a former junior schooler champion and is an international eight-ball pool player, and was part of the England men's team which won the 2018 European Championships in Malta.[9][10]
