Rubyfield Mall is a mall in Sunny Rose, Illinois. It has TJ Maxx, Macy's, JCPenney, and Kohl's as anchors

History

edit

Rubyfield Mall opened in 1970 with Sears, Marshall Field's, JCPenney, and Bergner's. The layout of the mall is Sears and Marshall Field's on opposite ends, and JCPenney and Bergner's in the middle facing each other

In 1986, MainStreet built and opened their store next to Marshall Field's

In 1989, Bergner's became Carson's and MainStreet became Kohl's

In 2006, Marshall Field's got converted to Macy's. The waterfall between JCPenney and Bergner's that has been running since the mall's opening stopped permanently, but the waterfall hasn’t been removed

Sears closed temporarily in 1990 in order to expand their store which requires construction. Sears reopened that same year

The mall received a renovation in 2010. When the mall opened, the floors were made out of turquoise stone and the glass that surrounded the large holes on the upper floors were bars. After the renovations, the mall had white floors, and the bars were replaced by glass. Above the food court next to Sears (which opened with the mall in 1970), a new play area opened which replaced 3 inline stores. During the renovations, Carson's built and opened a 3rd floor. A new Starbucks opened a kiosk between JCPenney and Carson's in 2011. An aquarium replaced the waterfall. The renovations finished in 2011

In 2017, Sears closed their store at the mall

In 2018, Carson's also closed due to Bon-Ton bankruptcy

In 2019, TJ Maxx, replaced the entire Sears building, making it a 2-floor TJ Maxx (The mall and anchors are 2 floors while Carson's is 3 floors)
