Ram Charan and director Buchi Babu Sana’s eagerly awaited film, tentatively titled RC 16, has been one of the most anticipated films that Telugu fans are looking forward to watching on the big screens soon!
The film has been described as one that will take audiences on a “rural, emotional and rustic journey.” It will be directed by Buchi Babu Sana, who won the best Telugu-language film award at India’s National Film Awards for his debut “Uppena” (2021). Sana previously served as a writer and assistant director to “Pushpa” filmmaker Sukumar on hit film “Rangasthalam” (2018).
“RC16” is being produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru for Vriddhi Cinemas and is presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar via his Sukumar Writings. Janhvi Kapoor (“Mili”) will star alongside Charan. Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman (“Slumdog Millionaire”) will provide the music. Chandrabose, who wrote the Oscar and Golden Globe-winning “Naatu Naatu” song in “RRR” will write the lyrics. Cinematography is by R. Rathnavelu (“Rangasthalam”), editing is by Antony L. Ruben (“Jawan”) and action choreography by Supreme Sunder (“Animal”). The crew also includes art director Avinash Kolla (“Major”) and costume designer Deepali Noor (“Pushpa”).
Rumoured to be titled Peddi (official confirmation awaited), the upcoming film is billed as a sports drama and is presented by Mythri Movie Makers, with Venkata Satish Kilaru bankrolling it under the banner of Vriddhi Cinemas. The movie was earlier officially launched with a grand puja ceremony, which was attended by the lead actors and technicians associated with the film.
Recently, on Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar’s birthday, the makers of RC 16 welcomed the actor onboard with a special poster. The first-look poster of Shivarajkumar revealed a side profile of the actor, promising a gritty and intense role for the superstar in the Ram Charan-starrer. The makers revealed that the actor will be ‘essaying a pivotal role that resonates with his stature.’ The Kannada superstar had also confirmed his involvement in the project. Incidentally, RC 16 marks Shivarajkumar’s Telugu acting debut as well.

Bollywood diva Janhvi Kapoor will be playing the female lead in the film, while Malayalam actor Antony Varghese Pepe of RDX fame and Bollywood actor Bobby Deol are rumoured to be part of the star cast. More details about the film will be disclosed soon.
