History

edit

In the picturesque town of Seefeld, nestled in the heart of Tyrol, Austria, a beacon of light emerged in 1993. Prolicht, founded by the visionary Walter Norz, embarked on a journey that would redefine the world of architectural lighting.

The early years were marked by relentless research and development, as Prolicht honed its expertise. By 1996, the company had set its sights on Innsbruck, relocating its headquarters and marking the beginning of their innovation phase. With a laser focus on retail lighting, Prolicht began to illuminate spaces with unparalleled precision. [4]

In 2001, Prolicht took a bold step and established its own production facility in Innsbruck, Tyrol, Austria. After a few years, in 2004, the headquarters moved again and has since been located in Neu Götzens, Tyrol, Austria. The growing team fuelled Prolicht’s ascent, and in 2009, they unveiled their first LED production range, revolutionising the industry with an impressive 8-day lead time.

But Prolicht didn’t stop there. In 2010, they introduced a palette of 17 standard colours, inviting designers to “Colour Your Light.” The following years witnessed exponential growth: 28 standard colours by 2014 and the birth of Prolicht LightLab in 2016.

Following their 25th anniversary in 2018, international expansion became the next chapter. Following the opening of facilities in several countries across Asia, Europe, and America, Prolicht established new facilities in Valencia, Spain, in 2019, further enhancing their global footprint with an international export office in 2020 [5]. Collaborations with industry icons like Tom Dixon [6] and ventures into acoustic solutions, such as Impact Acoustic [7], further highlighted their versatility.

Prolicht's innovative journey culminated in their participation in prestigious events like EUROLUCE in Milan in 2023 [8] and L&B in Frankfurt in 2024 [9], showcasing their commitment to cutting-edge design and technological advancement in lighting solutions.

The Troll Cosmetics headquarters in Lustenau features sleek, stylish lighting that aligns with the brand’s modern image. In Brisbane, Prolicht’s illumination at the Inala Library creates a warm and welcoming community space, while at Kingaroy Hospital, efficient and comfortable lighting supports both patients and staff in the healthcare setting. [12]

Prolicht has also made significant appearances at major industry events. They exhibited at EUROLUCE in Milan for the first time in 2023, showcasing their cutting-edge designs and technologies [13]. In 2024, Prolicht participated in Light + Building in Frankfurt, attracting over 9,000 visitors and further establishing their presence in the global lighting market. [14]
