Pek is a term used Swedish academic jargon. It refers to a (published) article. Within natural and medical science it is widely adopted as the adequate term.</ref>[1]
The word stems from the Swedish pekoral. Its use traces centuries back. It may have been originally derogative. From the 1920s it has been very widely use in academia with a neutral meaning.</ref>[2]
The journalist Barbro Alving used the term to describe messages between inmates. Also Curt Falkenstam has researched the origins of this term.</ref>[3]
