editDr. Paul Akintelure is a Nigerian medical professional, entrepreneur, and politician born on July 7, 1962, in Igbotako, Ondo State. He is reputed for his active participation in Nigeria's politics and philanthropy.[1][2].
Early Life and Education
editDr. Paul Akintelure received his primary education at St. Anthony RCM Primary School, Omotosho and St. Pius Catholic Primary School, Igbotako in Ondo State [2]. He continued his education at St. Louis Modern Commercial School, Igbotako before attending Manuwa Memorial Grammar School, Ijuodo and Federal Government College Odogbolu, Ogun State[2]. He later graduated in flying colors from the prestigious University of Ibadan in 1990, earning an MBBS degree[1].
Career and Medical Practice
editFollowing his education, Dr. Paul Akintelure began his career as an auxiliary teacher at Lubokun Comprehensive High School from 1980 to 1981[1]. He further served as a medical professional, working at General Hospital Lagos from 1991 to 1992 and later at the European Union Medical Centre Baale, Odeda, Abeokuta, Ogun State between 1992 and 1993 during his National Youth Service Corps. In 1994, he became the Medical Director of Broad Clinic, later upgraded to Broad Hospital in Lagos[1].
Political Engagement
editDr. Paul Akintelure has been actively involved in Nigeria's politics since 1980. He started his political career in UPN (1980), and has been a member of other political parties like SDP (1992), AD (1999), AC (2011), ACN (2012), and APC (currently)[1]. He contested for various positions, including Senatorial Candidate for Ondo South Senatorial District under the Action Congress in 2011 and Deputy Governorship Candidate in Ondo State under the Action Congress of Nigeria in a joint ticket with former Governor of Ondo State Rotimi Akeredolu. He participated in the 2023 general election that produced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in various capacities, which include his membership of Ondo State Campaign Council, Secretary of the Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency Campaign Council, Director General (DG) Okitipupa Local Government Campaign Council, Secretary Tinubu/Shetima Independent Campaign Council under Reconciliation and Reintegration, and member of the Presidential Campaign Council under Logistics and Support[1][3]
Entrepreneurship
editApart from his medical and political engagements, Dr. Paul Akintelure owns several businesses. He is the CEO of Broad Hotel Ltd., No. 12, Jibowu avenue car wash bus stop, Ikotun, Lagos. He is a commercial farmer with a range of businesses like Broad Ranch Ltd., Poultry, Pigs, Fish, Grasscutter, Rabbits, Quails, Vegetables, Fruits farms and Feed Mills, old Iju-Oke Road, Igbotako, Ondo State.[4], He has mentioned the need to create employment, provide support, and contribute to the attainment of national aspirations for food sufficiency as the main reason for his venture into commercial agriculture[4]. He is also the Medical Director of Broad Hospital and Maternity Home, No. 17, Fehintola Street, Ikotun, Lagos State[1]
