Omar Javeed Qazi, also known as Omar Kazi or John Omar Kazi, is a prominent Pakistani model and actor in film, television, and theatre. Born and raised in Lahore, Pakistan, Omar's career includes notable drama series such as Saas Bhi Ek Maa Hai[1] (2001) and Kabhi Tum Juda Na Hona (2002). He starred in acclaimed films like Sapnay Apnay Apnay[2] (2002), Dakait[3] (2002), and Laaj (2003). His greatest and most memorable hit came with the series Mitti Ki Moorat (2003), which cemented his status in the industry and paved the way for a successful streak in film, television, and theatre that continues to this day.[4]
Early Life And Education
editHe was born in Lahore. Omar's early education began with kindergarten in London, followed by attendance at an American school in Lahore. He later joined the prestigious British boarding school, Aitchison College.
Career
editOmar Javeed Qazi has consistently been the top choice for leading roles by PTV directors such as Haider Imam Rizvi, Kazim Pasha, Ali Rizvi, Atta-ul-Allah Baloch, and Ghazanfar Ali, as well as acclaimed writer Anwar Maqsood. Anwar Maqsood, in collaboration with director Dawar Mehmood,[5] cast Omar as the sole choice to portray Pakistan's founder, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, in the final instalment of the Saadhay 14 series, titled Saadhay 14 August. This theatre play set a record for business in Pakistan's history. In recognition of his contributions to arts and cinema, Omar was offered life membership at the Actors Studio.
In 2017, Ghazanfar Ali cast Omar in the highest-budget drama series, Chanar Ghati. In 2021, Omar played a recurring role in the multi-star cast drama series Ae Mohabbat.[6]
